At present, the quality of life of citizens depends largely on a number of automated systems used in all areas of human activity. Many automated systems today have the character of built-in real-time systems because of their reliability, low failures and high resilience. FEI VŠB-TU Ostrava students acquire the skills in the design and implementation of automated measuring and testing systems based on the PC personal computer platform in the subjects "Virtual Instrumentation 1, Virtual Instrumentation 2, Measuring and Data Acquisition Systems, Measuring Systems and their Programming". The PC platform does not meet the above requirements for a built-in system, and it is necessary to upgrade the teaching process and include real-time embedded system programming. That's why we want to build on the NI CompactRIO hardware platform, which features a built-in system that combines a controller with a real-time processor and operating system, a configurable FPGA gate array, and single-chassis I / O modules. The NI CompactRIO boasts robustness, performance and low power consumption and is programmable in NI LabVIEW's graphical development environment, which is massively advanced in the field of industrial tester. Through this platform, students will be introduced to the latest trends and advanced programming techniques for embedded automation systems that are required by graduates in practice.
