Electronic navigation at the VŠB-TU Ostrava area

In 2014, a development project was launched under the development project over the static part of the orientation system at the VŠB-TU in Ostrava, which exists in the form of information panels and orientation arrows in defined areas of the premises. With this superstructure in the form of electronic navigation, SW applications are designed for end-user mobile devices that provide them with basic information about points of interest in their current surroundings in connection with their location. Points of interest are individual objects in the VŠB-TU premises in Ostrava-Poruba. SW applications have been developed for tablet / smartphone mobile devices on two different platforms: OS IOS (Apple products) and Android OS (the most popular OS of mobile devices). These SW applications were verified in a pilot operation during the first meeting of the graduates of VŠB-TU Ostrava. Verification of the electronic navigation was also part of its operation in cooperation with the electric passenger transport (SEGWAY) enabling faster and more interesting movement around the campus. We plan to further develop these applications in 2015: 1) Extending the points of interest for the remaining part of VŠB-TU Ostrava (FaSt, EkF, FBI) ​​2) Supplementing the editorial system, which will allow to add dynamic points of interests related to events held in the campus VŠB-TU Ostrava 3) Resolution of synergies of end-user SW applications on mobile devices and servers providing up-to-date information about VŠB-TU Ostrava premises 4) Extension of in-field transport equipped with electronic navigation for use by visitors of VŠB-TU Ostrava.
